Local search is heading toward an AI-powered future — and no one is better positioned than Google. There are millions of Google Business Profiles across the globe which mean that Google has up-to-date knowledge of a wide range of reliable, fresh and richer content than any of its other local search and AI competitors.
By contrast, other large language models (LLMs) are forced to scrape together results from less reliable sources like Yelp, Facebook, and TripAdvisor.
Let’s be honest: when was the last time you updated a Yelp review or even used it to find a place to eat? These platforms simply don’t have the same depth or freshness of information that Google commands.
Google already dominates global search traffic, and now they’re doubling down by weaving their Gemini AI directly into search results. As of March 2025, according to StatsCounter.com Google holds an 89.74% share of the global search engine market, far surpassing competitors like Bing (4%) and Yandex (2.49%) .

In 2024, according to Investor’s Business Daily, Google Search experienced over 20% growth and handled approximately 373 times more searches than ChatGPT . Additionally, Google’s AI Overviews, powered by Gemini, have been rolled out to 1.5 billion monthly users across more than 15 languages in 140 countries.
